Rennell beleives that it takes a lot more than just a website to become successful online. To Mr. Garrett, “Field of Dreams” is a GREAT movie even though baseball was not the sport he enjoyed playing the most while growing up in Cleveland, OH. (Football was at the top of the list.)
But when Mr. Garrett uses “field of dreams” in the context of Internet marketing, it is not a positive term.
Mr. Garrett’s primary customers are small and medium-sized businesses. However, he has the capability to serve large companies as well.
Before Rennell started to work with local businesses, Mr. Garrett worked in a marketing and consulting capacity for worldwide computing giant IBM Corporation.
Prior to joining IBM, Mr. Garrett made two significant educational achievements. He earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration (majors: business and applied economics) from The Ohio State University. He then earned a spot in and graduated from IBM’s prestigious Global Sales and Marketing School.
Mr. Garrett is an ongoing success story. And the road he has traveled to where he is now in his career has not been easy. As recently as 2002, he was working in construction in Cleveland.
With the encouragement of a mentor, Mr. Garrett decided to go back to college. He defrayed the cost of attending Ohio State by selling products over the Internet.
Now, Mr. Garrett is an Internet marketing expert who helps client companies attract customers who are ready to buy. He is a certified Yahoo! Search Marketing Ambassador. He also has earned the Google Adwords Certification and a certification in Internet marketing from the Georgia Technical Institute.
Why is “field of dreams” a negative term for Mr. Garrett in Internet marketing?
At the start of the movie “Field of Dreams,” the lead character played by Kevin Costner – Ray Kinsella – hears a whisper that says, “If you build it, he will come.” Kinsella then sees a vision of a baseball field carved into his Iowa corn field. (The whisper is commonly misquoted as, “If you build it, they will come.”)
“A company should never have a ‘field of dreams’ view of its Website. It isn’t enough to think that ‘if you build it, they will come,’ said Mr. Garrett.
He continued, “There are countless Websites in cyberspace. The key is to drive qualified traffic to your Website — customers who are ready to buy. That’s where the services I provide can make a huge difference for a client company, especially in today’s tough economy.”
According to Mr. Garrett, there are two key differentiators to his Internet marketing practice. One is his ability to influence first page Google rankings.
The other is that he provides prospects with a free twenty minute skype consultation.
“With a quick chat consultation over Skype I can figure out customers needs and let them know exactly how I can fulfill them,” said Mr. Garrett.
Moreover, Rennell has a calm but wild personality that makes him very interesting and fun to work with.
